An injured crew member on board a yacht in the Solent has been transferred ashore by Yarmouth Lifeboat this afternoon (Saturday).
The volunteers of Yarmouth RNLI were tasked to launch the All Weather Lifeboat (ALB) by Solent Coastguard at around 16:25 after the vessel ‘CV31’ is understood to have declared a Mayday.
With the yacht in question situated just off Yarmouth it was just a short dash out of the harbour and into the Western Solent for the Lifeboat, which quickly rendezvoused with the vessel.
Island Echo understands that the injured crew member was transferred onto the Lifeboat and has subsequently been placed ashore and into the care of awaiting paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Needles Coastguard Rescue Team have also been involved in the incident by assisting on the dockside at Yarmouth.
CV31 departed from Portsmouth earlier on this afternoon and is currently in the vicinity of Yarmouth.
