Yarmouth RNLI was tasked to assist a 24ft yacht that had run aground off Colwell Bay at lunchtime today (Sunday).
Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the All Weather Lifeboat at 12:22 and it wasn’t long until the volunteer crew were powering the lifeboat west towards Warden Ledge.
The casualty vessel – which had been waiting to refloat on the incoming tide – was being pushed onto the ledge with the flooding tide, with calm to slight conditions and WNW winds of 10 knots.
Having assessed the situation and established that the 1 person on board was safe and well, the Yarmouth Lifeboat Coxswain made the decision to launch the ‘Y’ boat to assess the situation and subsequently tow the casualty into deeper water.

Once afloat the single handed sailor of the yacht continued on his journey and Yarmouth RNLI recovered their ‘Y’ boat and returned to the harbour.

So glad you got your boat off safely and big thank you to the brave crew of the RNLI. You are truly Angels X
