Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service have rushed a woman to hospital under a Police escort following an incident at an address in Ryde this lunchtime (Saturday).
5 Police units and 2 ambulances arrived at Winton Street, off Monkton Street, at around 11:45.
Officers are thought to have forced entry into a flat before assisting paramedics with transferring the patient into an awaiting ambulance.
The woman – of unknown age at this time – has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital in a serious condition.
3 other individuals are understood to have been at the address.
UPDATE @ 14:57 – A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has said:
“We were called at 11.40am this morning to a report of a concern for welfare.
“On arrival at the property, police found a woman in her 30s who was unwell.
Article continues below this advertisement “She has been taken to hospital”.
I live in the same building as where this incident occurred.
The patients condition was reported as ‘not life threatening’.
Police officers did have to use forced entry, as the occupant of the flat refused to allow them access.
In total there were 4 people inside of the flat when the incident occurred, 2 were allowed to leave by the police, 1 woman was taken to hospital, and the tenant of the flat remained at the property, after refusing to be taken to the hospital, as he was also being reported as being ‘heavily under the influence of an illegal substance’.
No arrests were made, and only a short visual search of the property was made.
It is also worth noting that the officers also commented that all 4 people were ‘well known drug users’.
Still not sure why nothing has been done, because there have been similar problems to this for over 2 years…
What can anyone do?
nothing has been, because nothing can be done. You can kick them out, only for more tenants to move in, who may take drugs also.
Someone from inside the flat obviously felt the need to incur the taxpayers of this Island, an additional expense, by calling for an ambulance, which probably wouldn’t turn up without police presence, because the callers were known, deadbeat, junkie losers.
Cannot help but notice that these clowns are not willing to contribute to society in any meaningful way, yet are more than willing to access the services, such as the NHS at the drop of a hat, with scant regard to the impact they have on others that may need this service through no fault of their own.
Parasites and scumbags, that should be left to suffer in their own mess, instead of having the ability to burden other people, who are contributing to society, with their pitiful excuses for lives.
And now it retaliation for having the police visit his flat, he has decided to set of the fire alarms in the building twice; wasting precious emergency service time and resources

Well done to the police as their hands are tied. The island is full of outcasts now. I’m not talking about average working/retired people. No, i’m talking about those forced by the council to take problem families for money. Those parents create several siblings, and this is are problem. Those kids grow up in dire needs with their parents in trackies, smoking crack in front of them. Another blinder is the crash out on briddlesfield Road, the young girl in the coma. People went out their way to raise funds, but did you no she caused th crash, and had weed in the car, too much for personal use??????? Has she given the money back to those who felt for her?????
How do you know she caused the crash? Everyone helped out for her because shes well known and liked,her family have made it public knowledge that there was weed in the car,the only important thing is that she is slowly getting better and that’s that
unfortunately Nicki – the revelation about the weed, will ensure that all the sympathy from the non drug dependent majority of our society will withdraw their support for her and consider the matter no longer worthy of their time.
There are far more deserving causes to support, than someone involved with drugs – irrespective of the circumstances.
No matter how distasteful you may find that statement, it is a fact.
Drug users and non drug users do not usually mix well and neither group has much time for the other.
