How frightening for her. Hope she recovers fully and quickly
Well done to all involved in the rescue if this lady
I’m not sure I understand why these people want to go out into the sea in this weather?? The water has been choppy/ windy/ chilly since yesterday, so why risk your life??? Don’t get it???
Lover of life – the report is inaccurate – she was not discovered unconscious in the water. It was an accident! My daughter, an experienced sailor in the prevailing conditions, was correctly dressed for keelboat sailing and her automatic lifejacket inflated when she fell overboard. The experienced crew recovered her. She was taken ashore by the harbour launch. I thank the skipper and crew and those on the shore for their efforts to resuscitate her. I will wait patiently without speculation to know the cause of her death and to read the MAIB report. My focus now is to support my son-in-law and young granddaughter with love and compassion.
I am so very sorry to hear that. Take care of your family, it is such a tragedy. X
So sorry to read of your loss, a traumatic experience for all involved. Thoughts are with you and your family.
My heartfelt condolences to you all, God bless your daughter..
So sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with your family at this very difficult time
So sorry for your loss my thoughts are with you and your family
Father of the dead woman, my mother arrived just after the accident happened, and your account is completely accurate. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. I think at the moment, more than anything, there is a lot of shock and sadness. We support you and wish you family time to heal – my condolences to all of you, especially her daughter (your granddaughter). x x
Also, for anyone who is not a sailor, this time of year, right now, is the warmest that the water will be all year round. Hypothermia was not one of her symptoms.
Our thoughts are with you. Heartbreaking.
I am so sorry for the sad loss of this lady, its a sport & accidents do occasionally happen like in any sport, but its very sad to hear this one didn’t end well.. My thoughts & prayers are with her family.
I was sailing in the Solent on Saturday with friends, we were anchored in Osbourne Bay at the time having lunch & heard the mayday calls. Automatic life jackets are essential if anyone falls overboard the jacket self inflates & has a head collar to keep your head above water. We are all also well versed in Man Over Board training & how to handle the yacht & recover a casualty from the water..
So sorry for your loss. Heartfelt condolences to you and all your family. Such a sad situation. Wishing you all strength and love at this difficult time ❤
Risking one’s life in choppy/windy/chilly weather? Oh dear, Lover of Life, you mean nobody should take to the sea if it is flat calm with no wind and therefore unfit for sailing? You exemplify perfectly the people who post opinionated guff about things of which they know nothing. God save us.
