Cowes RNLI lifeboat spent over an hour searching a wind-swept Solent yesterday afternoon (Monday), after the wing from a wing-foil was spotted in the water off Egypt Point, Cowes.
Fears that the person from the wing-foil was somewhere in the water led to the lifeboat being tasked by Solent coastguard to carry out an extensive search, with it duly launched at 16:35
Eventually the wing was recovered by the lifeboat off the Bramble Bank. Later it emerged that the person on the wing-foil had in fact made it to the Cowes shore with his foil.
The wing was eventually delivered back to the gentlemen by the lifeboat, before it returned to the station at 17:25.
