Wightlink has been awarded Best Ferry Operator 2024 at the National Transport Awards in London.
Wightlink carries more than 3.8million people across the Solent each year from its ports at Fishbourne/Portsmouth, Ryde/Portsmouth and Yarmouth/Lymington with more than 140 sailings a day.
Katy Taylor, Wightlink’s new CEO, has said:
“We’re thrilled to be named ferry operator of the year at the National Transport Awards. It’s all thanks to the hard work of our crews and colleagues at Wightlink’s six ports and eight ferries who always put our customers first.”
Transport Minister Simon Littlewood MP told the audience:
“Transport workers are the backbone of our economy – connecting communities and driving growth.”
The other finalists were Hovertravel and Uber Boat by Thames Clippers.
In 2023, Wightlink won Gold in the British Travel Awards for Best UK Ferry Operator, an award solely decided by the number of customer votes received by the organisers.
WTAF. Who voted for them?
What a sick joke, if only the organizers knew the real truth about the company their inappropriate and undeserved award endorses!
All the other providers must be Bl==dy awful.
Is this an April Fool’s joke?
Hmm, interesting news.
Seems WL are doing better than Red Funnel at the moment in terms of reliability
Unbelievable……
Cripes, I hate to think what the runner up is like.
I bet there was no shortage of staff to collect the award.
I think we all must be living in a parallel universe.
Thought it was April 1st for a moment, the BIG question is, How? Why? They are not worthy of any kind of award.
Is it July the 1st, and I see no mention of Red Funnel
Should be April the 1st
I presume there was only ferry operator in their category.
Is this just best of a bad bunch? Goes to show that clowns decide the outcome of these award ceremonies.
