Wight Tricks Academy recently delivered an outstanding performance at the inaugural NO RIVALS UK Tricking Championships held in Glasgow, Scotland.
Competing against top talent from across the UK, the team brought home an impressive tally of 7 podium finishes across various categories, making their mark on this premier event which took place at the prestigious Hadouken Tricking Academy Facility.
Tricking, an exciting up and coming sport is a combination of acrobatic manoeuvres, containing an aesthetic blend of flips, kicks and twists, taking forms from dance, gymnastics and acrobatics as well as creating its own skills unique to the sport.
The competition saw participants divided into skill levels, with intermediate and pro divisions across different age groups.
Representing the academy in fine form, the athletes displayed dedication, skill, and incredible sportsmanship.
Podium finishes were achieved by:
- Intermediate Youth Female (7-12 years):
- Lily Williams: 1st Place
- Bella Roe: 3rd Place
- Intermediate Youth Male (7-12 years):
- William Cottle: 3rd Place
- Intermediate Teen Female (13-17 years):
- Poppy Holliday: 2nd Place
- Millie Rowan: 3rd Place
- Pro Battles (Under 18):
- Josh Williams: 1st Place
- Pro Battles (18+):
- Bowie Brennan: 1st Place
Robbie Bates, Head Coach of Wight Tricks Academy, expressed immense pride in his team’s accomplishments:
“Taking home three 1sts in three separate categories, one 2nd, and three 3rd places, it’s safe to say our trip to Glasgow was a successful one! Glory aside, my team is returning full of pride after some incredible performances from everyone. I couldn’t be prouder to be their coach; I’m honored and privileged every day to work with such talented athletes. Onwards and upwards!”
Wight Tricks Academy aims to inspire young tricking enthusiasts to push their limits and achieve greatness and provides a space with dedicated facilities in Cowes. With this success at the NO RIVALS UK Championship, the team looks forward to future competitions and further successes.
