33-year-old Megan Startin has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence following an incident in Ventnor, which prompted a response by Armed Police on Tuesday.
As first reported by Island Echo, Police were called at just gone 16:15 on 11th March to reports that a woman was in possession of a firearm in the vicinity of Trinity Road, Ventnor.
Armed Response Officers were seen responding out of Newport a short while later, descending on the seaside town. They were seen in attendance at a block of flats on Albert Street later in the evening.
3 people were subsequently arrested; a 42-year-old woman, a 33-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man, all on suspicion of possession of a firearm without a certificate.
Now, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that Megan Lily Startin, of Albert Street, has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
She has been remanded in custody to appear before the courts this morning.
The other 2 suspects have been bailed with conditions until 11th June.
The suspected firearm has been seized and sent off for examination by specialists.
