A vehicle has been involved in a road traffic collision on Briddlesford Road near Newport this afternoon (Friday).
Emergency services have been called to the junction with Combley Road where a Honda Civic has left the carriageway and come to rest in amongst woodland.
An ambulance from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service is on scene, alongside an ambulance officer. They were called at around 16:30.
Police are also at the scene with officers directing traffic.
It is thought that fire crews were requested at the incident over fears the occupants of the car were trapped, but that has proven not to be the case. The occupants are now out of the vehicle and in the care of paramedics.
Traffic is heavy in the area but the road remains open.
UPDATE @ 18:00 – It has been confirmed that 2 people were checked over by paramedics but they have not required any hospital treatment.
It remains unclear how the accident occurred.
