Firefighters from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service forced entry into a flat after it started to fill with smoke in East Cowes earlier this morning (Saturday).
2 appliances from Newport and East Cowes were mobilised to Captains Parade on the Hawthorn Meadows estate at just gone 06:00.
The first crew on scene made a swift and forced entry into the property where it was discovered that cooking had been left on the stove whist the occupants were asleep.
Positive pressure ventilation was used to rid the building of smoke and the offending saucepan was removed.
Thankfully, the sleepy occupants of the flat have escaped injury.
Crews from Sandown and Shanklin were also called out during the early hours of this morning. 2 appliances were mobilised to Atherley Road, Shanklin shortly after 03:30.
