Hampshire Constabulary is investigating an act of criminal damage after a number of the force’s own police vehicles had their tyres slashed just yards from Newport Police Station.
Officers are investigating the incident which is said to have occurred in Pyle Street at around 23:45 last night (Thursday).
Island Echo understands that at least 2 cars and a van had their tyres slashed in the incident, although the force’s official line is that just 2 Police vehicles were damaged.
The affected vehicles were recovered this morning.
