A section of one of the main roads serving Newport is being resurfaced by Island Roads starting tonight (Monday).
Carisbrooke Road is being resurfaced between its junction with Pyle Street and Wellington Road. The scheme is programmed to last between 6-8 nights starting tonight (Monday 28th September) and in order to minimise inconvenience to road users, work will be undertaken overnight between 19:30 and 06:30.
Residents and businesses in the area have received letters informing them of the work during which vehicular access will be restricted.
The work comes in advance of a scheme to resurface nearby Trafalgar Road between Carisbrooke Road and St James’ Street. The work is expected to last between 4-6 days beginning mid to late October. Once again business and residents in the area have received letter outlining the work which will be undertaken between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00 when vehicular access will be restricted.
The Carisbrooke Road diversion route for northeast-bound traffic will be High Street (Carisbrooke), Priory Road, Gunville Road, A3054 Forest Road and Parkhurst Road, A3020 St Marys Roundabout and Medina Way, Coppins Bridge Roundabout, East Street, South Street, St James Street and Pyle Street.
Southwest bound traffic: High Street, A3020 Medina Way, A3054 Forest Road, Gunville Road, Priory Road, High Street (Carisbrooke).
The Trafalgar Road diversion will be via St Johns Place, Medina Avenue, Church Litten, South Street, St James Street, Pyle Street and Carisbrooke Road.
