A toaster fire saw crews from across the Island respond to the village of Wroxall over the weekend. Crews from Shanklin, Ventnor and Newport were called to an alarm sounding at a property on St Martins Road, at just after noon on Sunday. The alarm was caused by a small electrical fire involving a toaster, with firefighters using ventilation fans to clear smoke from the house. Crews undertook community safety activity at surrounding properties before leaving the scene at around 12:20.

Empty the crumb tray, people.
See told you it would happen again 3 fire engines for a toaster fire
3 units for a toaster !!!!!! bloody hell.
Yep double time on a Sunday
Must have been preparing Sunday lunch in the toaster to save money. The pizza probably didn’t fit well.
It was a nice day for a trip out in the Fire Truck and meet your friends from other parts of the island.
Not much else to do on a boring Sunday shift once you have got fed up with playing pool or watching TV,
I no the person and it was an unfortunate accident ok ,they did not request three fire engines ,it was sent out by the control room , so get you’re facts straight before you start such stupid comments
“I no the person…”
Caulkhead education at its finest.
Never reply to my messages ever again
But then you would never learn anything. I would suggest that you go back to school but the island schools are hopeless.
Makes you wonder if the overkill in engines is to justify obscured rise in council tax absolutely scandalous
It only costs extra fuel, the firemen are getting paid anyway, vehicles go bad if they sit and do nothing, tyres rot, engine seals harden etc.
No they are not getting paid anyway. Most are retained and only get paid when called
not true, please do better, they get a retainer every month regardless of call outs,
Please do better fireman get a monthly wage on hours they are contracted and EXTRA WHEN CALLED OUT
What a great job these fireman have, all this call out money we are paying for yet they wouldn’t help people
who were flooded.
How about to stop you lot from moaning the could send someone with a bucket of water and when they get to the fire they could phone back and say what is needed just hope nobody is trapped
Wayne…
It’s a toaster fire.
Please please take a fire safety course.. Maybe present yourself at you nearest Fire Station and ask them if a bucket of water can be used to extinguish an electrical fire.
Please..
Obviously you are too simple to see the point I was making
