A third man has been arrested on suspicion of arson in relation to the ongoing investigation into a series of arson attacks on the derelict Ocean Hotel in Sandown.
Police have confirmed that a 20-year-old man from Newport has today (Wednesday) been arrested on suspicion of arson. He remains in custody at this time.
Previously, another 20-year-old man, from Sandown and an 18-year-old man, from Sandown, were both arrested and questioned on suspicion of arson.
They have both been released on conditional bail until 3rd December and 8th November respectively.
Sergeant Sharland of Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has said:
“Our investigation into these arson incidents continues, and the South Wight Neighbourhoods Policing Team are following up every line of enquiry. Police also continue to patrol the area, and are working with local partners to resolve issues regarding the site, its security and the associated anti-social behaviour and criminality.
“I would like to thank our Communities for their support of these investigations and our work in partnership to reduce the long term impact on Sandown”.
