Following a long tradition of success at this event, the 16-strong team of rowers from The Bay CE School tested themselves against the best in the country last week at the National Indoor Rowing Championships in London.
The Copper Box Arena, in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, provided an inspiring setting for the challenge of pushing all students to their maximum, in achieving Performance bests (PBs) across the board.
The students did not disappoint – with everyone achieving a personal best.
Stanley Pettifer in Year 7 won the Bronze medal in impressive style and the school won another Top 10 places (Beth Katirewa, Layla Katirewa, Freddie Lyon, Alfie Saunders and Connie Batley-Smith). The girls’ and boys’ Spring relay teams also finished 8th and 12th respectively.
However, commitment over time was evident in most performances and all members of the team deserve a pat on the back and congratulating on such a great day’s racing.
