Tesco will open its first West Wight superstore on Thursday 24th March, creating 70+ roles for the community – with more than 60 people joining from the former Co-op store, which closed in February.
In addition to providing a wide range of fresh food, ready meals and other supplies, the new store at Afton Road in Freshwater will stock items from a number of local suppliers, including the Isle of Wight Tomato Stall.
Facilities at the new store include a Post Office and EV charging points in the car park which will be free to use for Tesco customers.
The store will be open 7 days a week, 07:00-22:00, Monday to Saturday, and 10:00-16:00 on Sundays.
Kevin Smith, Store Manager, said:
“I’m incredibly proud that the newest Tesco store will be opening in Freshwater and I look forward to opening our doors and welcoming all the familiar faces.
“Our colleagues in stores are the heartbeat of Tesco and their local knowledge and commitment means that we can serve customers, communities and the planet a little better every day.”
The doors will be opened for the first time at 09:00 on Thursday 24th March.
So, creating 10 roles!
Quick math
Yes, it’s called spin. Makes it sound better than it is. Wonder how much Tesco paid for the article?
Lovely we look forward to meet you all xxxx
Can’t wait, I’ll be first in the queue.
No more having to drive to Ryde for a big shop – well maybe sometimes!
why give free electricity for electric cars if you can afford one you can afford to charge it tesco should give money of petrol as us poor people can’t afford electric cars
The rich get richer.
Perhaps Tesco would like to take over the Freshwater garage almost next door.
Stop with the politics we are getting a new store, can’t wait
Such a shame. It has been really quiet on the road along there over the last few weeks. I look forward to the increased traffic and difficulty crossing the road with trepidation….
