Although the adverse weather conditions are causing disruption to cross-Solent travel, it is technical gremlins that have resulted in the cancellation of a number of Wightlink sailings on the Fishbourne-Portsmouth route this morning (Friday).
Wightlink say the 08:30 sailing from Portsmouth and the 09:30 sailing from Fishbourne have both been cancelled due to a technical issue.
Island Echo understands the 07:30 from Fishbourne was also cancelled with passengers saying that they were told water had got into the electrics of one of the vessels.
Hovertravel’s Ryde to Southsea service is currently suspended as a result of the strong winds and there are issues on Wightlink’s Yarmouth route this morning.
