UPDATED: Hovertravel have had to cancel at least 2 crossings on their Ryde to Southsea service this afternoon (Thursday) due to technical issues.
Both the 13:45 from Ryde and the 14:00 from Southsea have been pulled by the operator.
Adverse weather earlier on today meant the service was suspended until 12:15. Less than 2 hours later and the Hovers are off once again, this time due to the now-regular technical problems.
Neil Chapman, Managing Director of Hovertravel, previously stated that Solent Flyer would be returning to the cross-Solent route ‘by the end of November’. However, the craft is yet to appear on the pad at Ryde. She has been out of action since September and has been undergoing major structural repairs in Southampton ever since.
Accounts submitted by Hovertravel Ltd this month reveal that passenger numbers fell by 30,000 in the year ending 31st March 2018 – that was before the exceptionally turbulent time the company have been experiencing over the Summer and Autumn months.
Hovertravel apologises for any inconvenience.
UPDATE @ 14:17 – The next service is scheduled as 14:15, but Hovertravel say they are running with delays of 15 minutes.
