Red Funnel have been forced to cancel at least 2 sailings on their vehicle ferry service this evening (Wednesday).
The cross-Solent operator has advised that technical issues have resulted in the cancellation of the 19:00 from Southampton to East Cowes and the 20:30 from East Cowes to Southampton.
No further details have been provided but Red Funnel apologise for the inconvenience caused.
UPDATE @ 20:52 – The 22:00 from Southampton to East Cowes and the 23:30 return have also been cancelled tonight.
UPDATE THURSDAY @ 05:10 – Red Funnel have cancelled a number of early morning sailings today, as it is revealed that the technical gremlins relate to blocked toilets on board Red Falcon.
Passengers on the midnight sailing were advised that engineers were to work through the night to resolve the toilet issue.
The 04:00 from Southampton was cancelled earlier this morning, with the following services pulled going forward:
– 05:30 East Cowes to Southampton
– 07:00 Southampton to East Cowes
– 08:30 East Cowes to Southampton
UPDATE THURSDAY @ 08:56 – A further 2 sailings have had to be pulled today due to continuing technical issues. The following sailings have been cancelled:
– 10:00 Southampton to East Cowes
– 11:30 East Cowes to Southampton
UPDATE @ 09:57 – It has now been advised that the 11:00 and 12:00 sailings from Southampton will both be delayed by at least 1 hour for all booked traffic.
It is unknown if any further sailings will be cancelled today.
Don’t tell me , not enough cars , so cancelled ferry or a staff illness (technical breakdown or gremlins , let’s blame the aliens too shall we!!!!
Well…….That’s capitalism, shareholders to consider etc.
We have two options, either these companies brought into public ownership so they will serve residents and not holidaymakers or a fixed link. Current situation can not persist.

On the 11.55pm which is running 15mins late !!! Captain just told us cancellations of earlier boats were due to blocked toilets !!!

Was on the 17.30 ferry yesterday and all toilets were blocked so for all you people that haven’t a clue grow up moan about something else most of you can’t afford a toilet roll let alone a ferry crossing
