A taxi has careered off the carriageway and into railings designed to protect pedestrians on a busy road in East Cowes this afternoon (Monday) – just 2 weeks after a crash in the near enough the exact same spot.
Police have been in attendance at the bottom of Victoria Grove, where the road becomes Adelaide Grove, as a result of a local taxi vehicle crashing into the railings.
The single vehicle collision happened shortly before 17:20.
The Daihatsu Materia has since been recovered.
It was on 30th January that a red Vauxhall Zafira was travelling along Adelaide Grove when it headed straight off the road into the same railings, coming to rest with its bonnet in a bush.

Speed I expect, either that, or its aliens spooking drivers…never mind more will show up soon..
As we were travelling directly behind this lady, speed was absolutely not the case.
Maybe all you know it alls, should have been there, and checked out the extremely slippery surface on the road.
So…….what was it ? A lady, or a taxi !
Drive to the conditions, it’s not rocket science, otherwise everyone would crash at the same spot!!!!…bad driving always make up excuses…
Most probably the 12 inches of snow. Ha Ha.
?medical episode is another that usually gets trotted as a euphemism for bad driving.
It not bad driving when has been a medical episode
you are an uneducated idiot
Then the railings are doing exactly what they were designed to do! Excellent road fixtures
True smiffy but ,,,,, those were put in many years ago and have stood the test of time, by tradesman in those days you wait after this time they get put back ,the kids will be able to work them loose ha ha
A medical episode, could be drink or drugged up…..
2 crashes in two weeks I think its time to give up taxi
It wasn’t 2 taxi’s that crashed
Those railings are a hazard!
It does seem strange. Has something happened to the surface of this particular bit of road? Presumably a local taxi driver knows exactly where they are going and would be driving sensibly. Very odd.
Taxi and driving sensibly are not usually words used together. Just stand at the bottom of George Street and watch the moron taxis doing u turns to avoid driving a 100 yards either into George Street or across the road from the Codfather in to the rank!
or through the one way crossing from hovercraft road to Esplanade, too lazy to go round the roundabout.
Mere meters from where the East Cowes arsonist previously struck, I sense this is the work of the same man!
There’s something strange going on. How many of these have there been in the last few weeks?
Roads are very slippery cause of the grit and no rain to wash it off.
The grit is causing slippery roads cause no rain to wash it off.
Those pesky mobile phones getting in the way of your eyes.
Agree…..
1 x Taxi + 1 x Lady = 2 Phones !
Not rocket…
there was a push bike that had an accident in the same spot 5 mins before the taxi crash. something on the road?
Unusual for two in same area, maybe diesel on road ??
