A car has crashed into some railings on a residential road in East Cowes this afternoon (Monday).
The incident occurred on the corner of Victoria Grove and Adelaide Grove at around 14:30.
The vehicle in question – a red Vauxhall Zafira – was travelling along Adelaide Grove when it headed straight off the road into the railings coming to rest with its bonnet in a bush.
Police attended the scene.
It is unclear as to how exactly the incident occurred.
The vehicle was recovered by Bartletts at around 15:40.
UPDATE @ 16:25 – Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary have said that they no injuries were reported by anyone involved.

BEFORE ANYONE COMMENTS, This was a FAMILY MEMBER and caused due to a MEDICAL EMERGENCY!! Nothing to do with poor driving!!
No ? Lucky no one was walking in front then !!
Hope they make a speedy recovery
Why, nobody was injured.
Should not have been driving with a medical condition, could of killed innocent people.
A medical episode DOES NOT mean this person has an ongoing condition. DOH!
We, all humans can have a medical episode at any time in our lives. This is what makes us human. Well, most of us anyway!
Could HAVE killed someone, not ‘of.’ Learn your grammar. Also the medical condition could have happened with no prior warning.
We cannot judge unless we know the facts. A stroke can happen unannounced. One example!
And as for being grammatically correct, it’s not “could OF happened. It’s could HAVE happened Pardon me, just for the record.!
I wish the person in the car a speedy recovery. Every blessing..
Possible they didn’t know they had a medical condition, it happens.
Like most island drivers, drugged up, or sloshed, along with bad driving habits and attitudes….
IE…any update??
None of our business apparently.
Shouldn’t be driving if he is likely to have a medical emergency. Obviously not in the best of health to start with.
Anyone at any time can have a medical incident , hope they make a speedy recovery .
Anyone can have a medical episode at any age and at anytime
OMG! Another idiotic comment made by an idiot. Let’s hope you don’t ever have a medical episode, which, can occur at any time in a person’s life. Not just the elderly.
Hope you family member get’s well very soon
All I can say is I wish your family a speedy recovery
THANK YOU FOR LETTING US KNOW!!!
I really hope your relation recovers well. Must have been very scary !
What was the medical emergency?
None of your fooking busines !! apparently.
What? They were driving to a medical emergency or took a turn at the wheel? Hope all in the car are now safe and well.
Family member ? How old ? Probably old enough to have a bus pass and not be a threat to other road users.
Keep the roads safe and stop allowing old people to drive !
What a bad family letting the person drive how selfish other people good of been killed
Pair of geeks you too need to grow up what a pair
Two of you apparently and you still type gibberish.
Mike, don’t be too hard on them after all they have to share the 1 working brain cell in the family and it obviously isn’t their turn this year.
Sorry to hear that. Hope they recover well.
Were you born stupid or do you practice very hard as you are amazingly good at being so, i hope you realise you will possibly be “old” one day.
Does the DVLA know about the persons medical condition… should that person legally be driving ?? Or was it a one off. Too many use the excuse of medical emergency, and many it truly is, but makes me wonder what they are doing driving ?
I d feel sorry for the driver and do hope okay now..
‘It is unclear as to how exactly the incident occurred.’
Looks like car drove off road through railings and into a bush.
Time to surrender that license
Oh bloody hell. Someone is using my name. Me, the real Sunshine, I have not posted this comment. Whoever you are, are you so thick you can’t have your own name?
Some dum or stupid people out there,a medical episode can happen to anyone, any age ,any time, footballers have cardiac arrests , you can have seizures and strokes or just a virus and faint.
Totally unrelated to a certain “vaccine”
Yes, people had medical episodes before that. Put your tin hat on, you lunatic.
Most people know they may have an episode, as yes can happen to anyone, but USUALLY there are warnings signs, sadly people ignore them…Stupid to say anything on here as many are just so negative.. The truth is hard to accept eh ??
God damn, it’s to scary to just walk around. Surely drivers must be healthy and fit to drive dangerous, heavy vehicles right? Are there any checks of that after the initial driving test? ;fff
Was the medical emergency he had not put his glasses on
Well said Ian totally agree with you
Some really nasty comments on here, shame on island echo for allowing those comments to be posted
If I was experiencing a medical episode whilst driving, I’d like to think I would apply the brake, stop and seek medical help.
Not hit the accelerator and plough into the nearest wall, child or whoever is unfortunate enough to be using the pavement in front of me.
Driver Bob….Sadly, there are many instances where that would not be possible however desirable:- burst aorta, Stroke, heart attack, brain aneurysm, mostly dead in seconds/no time to react/incapable of reacting.
Ahh, brain death. That’s what most of the idiots who like to comment on here have already suffered with, clearly.
Brain death appears to present quite frequently with Isle of Wight drivers sadly, given the sheer volume of accidents on island roads.
Surely in the event of a catastrophic rapid on set medical event, taking both feet off the pedals is preferable to pressing the accelerator?
The damage to the railings imply beyond doubt that the car was under power (i.e not coasting) at the time of impact. There were no tyre marks or damaged brake lights.
but in this case, the article does say “no injuries were reported by anyone involved.”
and from the photos the driver was able to exit the vehicle unaided (if there was any issue with getting them out the emergency services would have taken the roof off,.. they’re often very keen to do that),.. so it can’t have been that serious ??
Yes I agree, BUT many of those have been giving the person warnings beforehand.. High Blood Pressure, stress… worry… unfit to drive… THINK BEFORE YOU DRIVE…
If YOU were unlucky enough to experience a medical episode whilst driving a motor vehicle, I doubt you would be able to react in the manner you suggest.
You should apply the brake to your comments and acquire some sort of actual common sense before proceeding.
I hope your family don’t have to extract you from your accidental damage.
Best wishes for the speedy recovery for the occupants of the car.
you sound like an absolute cuck
I think the nearest you have ever got to driving a train is a very simple N gauge one, not intelligent enough to handle OO
Here’s wishing a speedy recovery for your family member.
Hope the medical emergency was nothing too serious and driver involved will be OK.
Another medical emergency……
So they say…..Probably s**t themselves.
Happened to me once.
