A 33-year-old man has been arrested, questioned and released on bail in connection with suspected drug dealing in The Bay.
Plain clothed and uniformed officers descended on the Sandown, Lake and Shanklin area last night (Tuesday) as part of ‘Operation Spider’.
During a patrol on Cliff Path in Sandown, officers stopped 2 males who were seen acting suspiciously. This subsequently led to the arrest of a 33-year-old male on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs, possession of an offensive weapon and obstructing Police.
Whilst at Newport Police Station for questioning, the unidentified male’s address was searched leading to the seizure of drugs, offensive weapons and digital devices.
The suspect has since been released on bail as investigations continue.
A 48-year-old man was also arrested last night after officers discovered him to be unfit to drive through drugs. A roadside drugs wipe was conducted which provided a positive result. The middle-aged male was taken to custody for blood samples to be taken. He has been released under investigation and is expected to appear in court later this year.

Where do all these low life vermin come from….I don’t understand why people like this thrive throughout the country, destroying lives and making everyones life a misery..
Can’t we simply put them out of their miserable existence, and allow the rest of us to live in peace….
Well done Police. Drugs destroy people and communities. Honest members of the public need to keep reporting suspicions to the Police.
We also need spot checks at ferries and harbours using drug dogs.
This evil trade needs stopping.
Did they conduct this “operation” in the same Sandown as we have to walk around. If so, they were either at the chippy or blind, as you can walk around sandown and spot drug dealers on every road. The police run an “operation” and the top story is 2 males and a drug driver!! what are we paying for?
Still going to be forced to pay an extra 4.9% increase in our council tax this year, what do we receive for our money? “SFA”…
What road? , just asking for a friend
When the only jobs available are low paid and bad conditions and the cost of living is escalating and you can’t support your family then you turn to the black market. Desperate men do desperate things. So would we all. Continually telling people living on dodgy earnings that they are vermin and filth does nothing to help the situation. Improving pay and working conditions in care homes would solve several problems on the island just now
What a refreshing point of view.
The guy regularly dealing from Culver Battery has a very nice car.
Legalise and regulate drug use. That is the only proven way to control it’s use. Lots of other countries have done this and all have reported a drop in addiction rates, overdoses and infection rates. Users are monitored, drug dealers are out of a job and revenue flows are directed back to central governments. There would be no black market and users could be confident that the drugs they use do not contain toxic ‘padding’. Short of executing dealers and users, there is no other solution.
Ridiculous. Read Peter Hitchens on this. Most crimes are committed by druggies. Almost ALL case’s of schizophrenia began by cannabis use…
Car park by the conservative club next, you won’t have to watch it for long, two or three dealers do all their drop offs there.
Scum shame the smack head didn’t jump off cliff now bang the scum up for a long time
