An Isle of Wight entrepreneur has launched an Island-wide campaign to make every primary school Sun Safe accredited in memory of his sister, who died from melanoma.
Charlie Panayi has partnered with national skin cancer charity SKCIN to roll out the Sun Safe Schools programme across the Isle of Wight, aiming to embed sun safety education into schools and communities.
The initiative follows the death of his sister, Zoe Panayi, in 2020, and seeks to drive long-term behavioural change by educating children, parents and teachers about the risks of sun exposure.
As part of the campaign, every primary school on the Isle of Wight will receive a free sunscreen dispenser and educational resources, including assembly materials and a children’s book promoting sun safety.
The programme, which launched in 2012, already supports thousands of schools nationwide and has reached more than 1 million children and families.
Marie Tudor, CEO of SKCIN, has said:
“Sun Safe Schools is as much about educating teachers and parents as it is about reaching children. It’s about embedding policy, parental engagement and everyday practice – and that takes structure, education and ongoing support.
We feel incredibly honoured to be working with Charlie and his family. Following the heart-breaking loss of Zoe to melanoma, this campaign forms part of a powerful legacy in her memory.”
Charlie Panayi has said:
“Zoe’s Law is about one simple thing. Preventing families from going through what we went through.
“If we can reach children at a young age, we change how they think about sun exposure, protection and risk for the rest of their lives. That is how you reduce cases and help stop this happening to other families.”
Richard Quigley, MP for Isle of Wight West, has said:
“It was a real privilege to join Charlie as he launched the new Sun Safe Schools campaign in conjunction with national skin cancer charity SKCIN. A programme they jointly plan to roll out across schools on the island. A great collaboration in a united mission to educate the next generation with sun safety”.
Schools can sign up to the programme via www.sunsafeschools.co.uk.

I think you are confusing the labour government with Farage,…
He was the one, that said, in print, on campaigning leaflets,.. that reform councils wouldn’t increase council tax,.. & then when they all did increase it, to the max, actually denied saying it.. So Trumpian…..
