The Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat’s inaugural Summer Fundraiser has raised vital funds while bringing the local community together in support of its life-saving work.
Held at the Broadway Centre, the event welcomed residents and visitors from across the Isle of Wight for a day of fundraising, with local businesses, volunteers and supporters all playing their part in making the event a success.
The High Sheriff of the Isle of Wight, Nigel Hartley, was among those in attendance, taking time to meet volunteers, stallholders and members of the lifeboat crew while recognising their dedication to keeping the waters of Sandown Bay safe.
Visitors enjoyed a variety of craft stalls, the lifeboat’s ever-popular plant sale and refreshments, while also learning more about the independent charity’s work. The Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat provides an emergency rescue service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Organisers have thanked the many local businesses, organisations and volunteers whose generosity and support helped ensure the fundraiser’s success.
Funds raised from the event will go directly towards the charity’s operational costs, crew training, lifesaving equipment and its ongoing commitment to providing a vital emergency service for residents and visitors across Sandown Bay.
