Ventnor’s Stripped Brasserie & Bar, run by husband-and-wife team Stefan and Ramona, is making waves on the Isle of Wight dining scene with its new front-of-house chicken rotisserie.
The rotisserie sits inside the restaurant’s open kitchen, turning British free-range chickens in full view of guests and filling the room with the aroma of slow-roasted meat, which has been brined overnight in Ventnor Cider from local producers Grazed Knee.
It marks a notable addition to Ventnor’s food offering and reflects a wider UK dining trend.
Rotisserie-focused restaurants have been gaining momentum on the mainland, with national newspaper The Observer highlighting the rise of what has been described as ‘luxe rotisserie’ dining. Stripped’s new installation brings a similar concept to the Isle of Wight, while retaining a strong local focus.
The rotisserie has been introduced alongside the restaurant’s established Mediterranean-style menu and is designed to complement, rather than replace, existing dishes.
The rotisserie is available every Sunday evening, with pre-booking recommended due to early demand. The restaurant is also offering rotisserie and full menu orders throughout the week for private events, gatherings and takeaway.
Stefan and Ramona say they aimed to introduce something new to the Isle of Wight dining scene while keeping their focus on local produce and straightforward cooking.
They’ve said:
“The open kitchen rotisserie adds a bit of theatre, but it’s still about simple, good food done properly.
“We wanted to bring a London trend to Ventnor – but give it a soul that’s unmistakably local.”

I must say Ventnor is home to the best
restaurants on the island.
Only problem it’s not the easiest place to get
too at times.
