An area of Church Litten in Newport has been cordoned off by Police after an alleged stabbing in the park last night (Thursday).
Officers are maintaining a guard around the crime scene which is focused on an exercise area in the recreation ground, to the rear of Lord Louis Library.
It is claimed that 2 people were stabbed in the serious incident, which is said to have occurred at around 20:30.
A cordon was not erected immediately after the incident but a scene was established overnight and remains in place this morning.
Police are expected to be at Church Litten throughout this morning as detectives from CID investigate the claims.
Hampshire Constabulary has been approached for a statement with further details expected later on today.

People these days are just so devoid of any emotion and caring feelings. Kids out wandering the streets at night, getting up to God knows what. Shouldn’t be allowed. They should be at home, doing their homework. And all you modern ‘nimby’s’ who think it’s old fashioned, the old ways were the best!
I know the post doesn’t state the age of people involved, let’s hope it’s not young kids. This bad stuff is happening on the island now, how times are changing and not for the better, so all of you decide where it’s going wrong!
It’s scum bringing up scum bringing up scum. It’s been happening since the 1980s really very much linked to the social and economic changes which were triggered by capitalism, as strong community relationships were broken up. When the community disappeared the chav culture emerged where previous society stigmas no longer existed. It’s snowballed since to a point where nothing is frowned upon now, and society discipline doesn’t exist.
Chav culture started after Tony Blair got into power, when the young were encouraged to live off the state. Then mass immigration imported cheaper labour, big businesses loved it….that’s why working public are treated with contempt…
It will only get worse until the courts start giving lengthy sentences to these idiots
looking at all the rubbish round the seating and exercise area undercover of two massive trees, a drug users den if ever. Knife crime on the increase, along with killing in massive numbers throughout the world – nowhere is safe anymore. I hope they catch those responsible for this senseless crime.
