It could soon be the ‘Isle of White’ again as the Met Office issue a yellow weather warning for snow on Sunday.
High pressure over Scandinavia will feed a very cold easterly airstream across the country throughout this coming weekend. As this air crosses the North Sea snow showers will form on Sunday, and could well merge into convergence lines producing 2-5 cms of snow in places.
Although the Island saw snowfall at the start of the month it was significantly less than other parts of the country, but we could be about to get a second serving. The Isle of Wight falls well within the yellow warning zone.
The warning is currently in force from 00:05 to 23:55 on Sunday 18th.
If 2-5cm was to fall, as suggested by forecasters, it could lead to disruption on the roads and to schools on Monday morning.
