Despite it only being the first week of June, many of the Island’s Wessex League stars have switched allegiances ahead of the 2024-25 season. The most notable transfer is that of East Cowes Vics captain Callum Chase back to Cowes. The 23-year-old centre half has played for all of the 3 local Wessex League sides and has also played for Pagham and Hamble Club. Taking to their Facebook page to share the news, Cowes Sports have said:
“We look forward to having him back and fighting for a spot in our defensive unit. Another ball playing centre half who loves popping up with important goals. “We’re sure you will enjoy being back with us and the fans will enjoy watching you in blue and white again.”
It was earlier last week that Cowes also announced the signing of full-back Ryan Hughes who has previously played for Newport in the Wessex League as well as Whitecroft & Barton in Division One here on the Island. Hughes represented the Island at the 2023 Island Games in Guernsey and has also played in the Southern League for Lymington Town. Across the Medina, East Cowes Vics have said goodbye to both Brad Young and last season’s top scorer Ji Nash, who have both departed for Newport.

You have missed the biggest transfer on the Island to date, Charlie Marsek to Cowes Sports from neighbouring East Cowes Vics undoubtably the transfer of the season so far.
