A shuttle bus is being introduced to support residents and passengers affected by the New Road closure in Brading, after roadworks in Wroxall were completed earlier than expected.
The service is being provided in partnership with Isle of Wight Council and is intended to help maintain public transport links during the closure.
The shuttle will operate between Brading Bull Ring and Tesco, where passengers will be able to change onto Southern Vectis route 2 or route 3 for their onward journey.
The service will operate from tomorrow (Wednesday).

Simon Moye, Southern Vectis oeprations manager, has said:
“We understand our customers rely on the services we provide, and this has been a challenging situation.
“I’d like to thank them for their patience and understanding during these works by Island Roads.
“Our team is determined to minimise disruption to our services, and I am delighted that we have been able to work with Isle of Wight Council to provide the shuttle bus for the remainder of the works.”
Stewart Chandler, the council’s transport strategy manager, added:
“Ensuring residents can continue to travel reliably during these essential works has been a priority for us. We’re pleased to have worked closely with Southern Vectis to introduce this shuttle service, which will help maintain important connections for the Brading community.”

About time, let’s hope the road works finish early, such an
inconvenience.
After residents complained, action was taken to implement a shuttle service from the Bullring to Tesco and back. Excellent news.
Having worked in organisations implementing Business Continuity Management (BCM), I struggle to understand how the Council, Island Roads, Southern Water and Southern Vectis didn’t appear to have a BCM plan in place. Reading comments from residents that nothing was in place (alternative transport) was unacceptable.
9/11 emphasised the need for organisations to consider: “What would we do if we were denied our buildings, systems and people?” Many organisations failed after 9/11 because they lacked plans outlining what an organisation needs to do in the first 2, 4, 8, 10, and 24 hours, and thereafter.
We live in a modern age, yet there appears to be no clear rescue plan; instead, there is only a last-minute reaction.

look how many Councils in the country have cancelled
local elections.
I am surprised the island are having local elections.
Democracy in this country is coming to an end.
