Liz Truss has resigned as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom just 44 days into her premiership, entering the history books as the shortest-serving PM in the country’s history.
In the latest Downing Street drama, Liz has announced this lunchtime (Thursday) that she is to step down.
Who will become the next Leader of the Conservative party and the country’s next Prime Minister is unclear. But it is known that Liz will remain in office until a replacement is found.
It comes less than 24 hours after Suella Braverman resigned as Home Secretary – and only 6 weeks after Liz became Prime Minister, replacing Boris Johnson as the Leader of the Conservatives. It means that Liz has replaced Sir Alec Douglas-Home as the shortest-serving Prime Minister. He served for 1 year and 1 day.
Bob Seely, the MP for the Isle of Wight, said earlier this week that he is frustrated at the current situation and says that the Government needs to get its act together to deliver on promises to the country and the Island.

What took her so long! She wrecked the UK economy. Many thousands of people have had their mortgages increased. The Bank of England had to step in and protect people’s pensions. The country should now have a General Election but the Tories won’t do that because they know they don’t have a cat in hell’s chance of winning.

About time. BRING BACK BORIS! Apart from making a mess of covid he has the potential to be a great PM. He handled the situation in Ukraine and Putin extremely well donating military equipment and giving Ukraine full support. Forget about the Parties thousands of people broke the law.
