A second weather warning for the Isle of Wight has been issued by local forecasters IW Met Service – this time for heavy rain.
Overnight tonight (Thursday) an area of heavy showery rain will push in from the southwest. Some of the rain is likely to be torrential with the risk of the odd rumble of thunder.
Forecasters say there is the potential of localised flooding due to large amounts of rain falling in a very short space of time, with 10-15mm of rainfall likely in some places.
A second spell of heavy showers is likely to move in from the southwest later tomorrow afternoon/evening and there is also the risk of hail and thunder mixed in. A further 5-10mm of rain is possible locally, although not everywhere will see the showers.
A yellow weather warning for strong wind has already been issued, as previously reported by Island Echo.
The rain warning is in force from 23:00 tonight until 22:00 on Friday (9th August).
