Breaking News First reported by Island Echo

Another weather warning for fog has been issued by the IW Met Service, which could lead to further disruption across the Isle of Wight tonight (Friday) and overnight into Saturday.

Last night forecasters warned that fog would affect areas across the Island and the Solent region from 21:00 onwards. This rang true when a blanket quickly descended.

The heavy fog resulted in Red Funnel cancelling all services between East/West Cowes and Southampton until sunrise this morning.

Now, a second warning has been issued and is in force from 20:00 this evening until 09:00 tomorrow morning.

Jamie Russell, Chief Forecaster at IW Met Service, says:

“Further fog patches are likely to develop on Friday night into Saturday morning.

“Localised dense areas of fog will develop and become rather widespread once again, although perhaps not quite as dense as last night’s fog.

“Further travel disruption is possible across the Island and on the Solent”.
