A second human bone has been discovered following a recent search of King’s Quay near Wootton, Police have confirmed.
As exclusively revealed by Island Echo, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary and HM Coastguard descended on the secluded quay on 15th November as part of an investigation into the discovery of human remains.
It was back in April that a member of the public located a bone on the shoreline, which prompted enquiries into whether or not it was human. Forensic analysis later confirmed that the bone was indeed that of a deceased human, leading to a wider investigation being launched.
Police initially said that no further human remains were located during this month’s search, however, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has today (Monday) confirmed that a second human bone has now been identified following the seizure of an item on 15th November.
The origin and identity of the person – or persons – to whom the bones belong remains unknown. Police have previously said there are no suggested links to criminal activity.
Further analysis and enquiries remain ongoing at this time.
King’s Quay is one of the hardest-to-reach locations on the Isle of Wight with no public right of way, situated between the private estates of Barton in Whippingham and Palmers Farm in Wootton. The whole area is marked as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) bounded by ancient woodlands. There is no landing for boats.
I wonder if this is Damien Nettles after all these years.
Handy, though. Plod can fly in and out on the unapproved, unlicensed private airstrip in the next field.
No links to criminal activity…but can’t identify the bones…make your minds up.
