Police have launched a search for a high risk missing person in the Mottistone area this afternoon (Monday), with volunteer search and rescue technicians called in to assist.
Earlier today concerns were raised for the welfare of a local man, prompting Police to conduct enquiries as to his whereabouts.
Island Echo understands his vehicle has since been located at Mottistone Manor car park, prompting search teams to be deployed.
Efforts to locate the local male are currently underway in the vicinity of Mottistone, Tennyson Trail and Brighstone Forest.
Hampshire Constabulary is yet to issue an appeal for information.
UPDATE @ 16:20 – The National Police Air Service helicopter from RAF Benson has arrived overhead and is conducting an aerial sweep of the vast, open area.
Meanwhile, search teams have taken to the tracks leading up onto Mottistone Down and the Tennyson Trail.
The search continues.
