Residents are being invited to attend a community open day at Ryde Fire Station in April, where firefighters will showcase the wide range of emergency response work carried out across the Isle of Wight.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service will host the event at Ryde Fire Station, with a packed programme of live demonstrations planned throughout Saturday 4th April.
Visitors can expect to see rescues from height as well as demonstrations involving the service’s smoke house, giving an insight into how crews deal with fires and other emergencies. Firefighters will also be displaying specialist equipment used in a range of incidents.
Other emergency services are due to attend, including representatives from the Police, Ambulance Service and Inland Search and Rescue, highlighting how agencies work together to keep communities safe.
There will be activities aimed at all ages, with children given the chance to try their hand at being a firefighter by using hoses to spray water onto a mock house and meeting on duty crew members.
On site catering will be available, including sweets for children and food options for adults.
A raffle will also be held during the event, offering the chance to win prizes.
The station will be open between 10:00 – 16:00.
There is no parking available at the station itself, but there is free parking available on the industrial estate.
