Ryde Arena is likely to remain closed to the public until late February whilst repairs are carried out to the building after it was damaged during adverse weather last month.
The rink’s management have today (Monday) confirmed that their insurance company have authorised the repairs to the roof, to commence as soon as possible. It comes after sections of the ice rink’s roof became dislodged in high winds resulting in the temporary closure of the arena – formally Planet Ice – on 24th November.
Once the roof repairs have been made it is said work will begin on the inside of the building to clear all areas affected, dry out and refit. It is then hoped parts of the building will be available for public access in late February.
The postponed Aladdin pantomime is now envisaged to take place at Easter.
In a statement, Ryde Arena have said:
“Thank you for your patience and support over this challenging period.
“We now have a clearer picture of the work to be undertaken and we will keep you updated as the repairs progress”.
