A road in Carisbrooke has been blocked this afternoon (Monday) whilst firefighters assist paramedics with an ongoing medical emergency in the area. Emergency service vehicles are currently blocking Castle Road at its junction with Carisbrooke Road. 2 ambulances from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were dispatched to the scene, joined by a pumping appliance and the Aerial Ladder Platform from Newport Fire Station. Island Echo understands that access to the casualty is proving difficult given the building they are situated within, thus the decision was made to call for assistance from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being.
