I hope everybody involved are okay …too many car accidents for a small island
7 rtc’s in less than 24 hrs what the hell is going on
That’s just what reported to police/ Island Echo, others with no injuries might well also taken place. Had so many near misses recently, lot’s of drivers at speed that they are unable to control – a small old white Peugeot cannot even stay on correct side of road !. Sure be some more on here today.
It’s going to be a Smashing year….God help us..
Hope all is safe and well.there are an awful lot of traffic accidents lately
More old people that can’t see
Idiot comes to mind, I sincerely hope you don’t drive….if you do please stop now..
Sanctimonious moron.
Drivers under 60 are four times more likely to be involved in an accident than those over 60
Under 21 year olds make up 33% of the under 60 age group.
If you really think eyesight is the problem maybe it is because it is impaired by drugs or drink in younger drivers.
Drivers over 60 are four times more likely to cause accidents while infuriated drivers overtake them as they dawdle along taking there bag of grass cuttings to the bloody tip!! Fact!
ass hole Bob…. age has nothing to do with driving.. either you can or you cannot…I expect you fall into the latter category…
Jim Beam, you are obviously a stupid young fool who can’t think!
Yep. There are sure to be some accidents that fall into that category. Unfortunately a rural island with poor bus service only encourages them to drive.
Im old and I can read a bottle of alcohol….. it says Beam not Bean.
Hope everyone is ok. I’m amazed at the volume of crashes on the Island- would be interesting to see the stats vs rest of uk.
The worse out outside of London
Drivers over 60 are four times more likely to cause accidents while infuriated drivers overtake them as they dawdle along taking there bag of grass cuttings to the bloody tip!! Fact!
Why is there the need to overtake them just for a few extra seconds of ones life
Perhaps Bob is a brain surgeon rushing to an emergency?
Or NEEDS a brain surgeon more like!
that’s highly unlikely given his comments here
“their” not “there”
Years ago you would not have heard of any accidents unless they were very serious and then they would have been reported in a local newspaper once a week. Technology means we get to hear of everything straight away.
The downside of the ever increasing population with more vehicles is more accidents and incidents.
The further downside of all of this is the fact that more insurance claims on the island will possibly make the Isle of Wight an insurance black spot and it may make it more expensive for all of us to insure our vehicles.
The accident rates rise when the Tourist season starts. We should know by now. Imagine how much worse it would be with a ‘fixed link’. We should really get off the idea that slower drivers cause accidents.
Think about it – higher speed impacts are more destructive. Very few experienced people drive faster than necessary. It’s a mainland habit that Police want to stop!
As to cyclists! Nearly all the local ones act sensibly, not so the middle-of-the-road Tourist variety.
The only cure is to take precautions & drive carefully. Live and let live.
We share a lovely environment here. Road accidents spoil everyone’s day!
Insurance companies write off cars more these days.
Too many drivers not paying attention…. undue care and attention…. they get in/on the vehicle but leave brain at home…
How many new homes being built on this Island ? Ryde alone will have an extra 2000+ cars on the road… so just imagine that… and the accidents…. a fixed link ‘ old timer ‘ will make no difference to being a bad driver !
