Organisers of the popular Rhythmtree Festival, which was cancelled earlier this year, have announced that they will be hosting a live music event this summer.
Sundown Sessions – as they will be called – will be heading to the popular Sticelett Farm in July.
As previously reported by Island Echo, it was back in February that the news broke of the cancellation of this year’s Rhythmtree Festival.
Those in charge of the Cowes-based event cited financial pressures as the main reason that the 3-day event, at Sticelett Farm, cannot go ahead. Increasing fuel costs, artist fees and production costs have also been blamed.
Previous iterations have been held at Three Gates Farm in Shalfleet but last year, the event moved to the Rolls Hill site.
But it was announced yesterday (Sunday), that a musical event will be heading to Cowes.
Each night will be a Rhythmtree party – complete with all the ‘vibes’ – with doors open from late afternoon till late evening.
Limited tickets are available for these special events, so those who wish to attend are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment.
In a statement issued on Sunday evening, the team behind Rhythmtree announced the new, spin-off event and have said:
“The outpouring of love we received from our last announcement did not go unnoticed. This special festival has a place in all our hearts and we are determined to keep providing those incredible memories and experiences, which is why we are excited to announce two Rhythmtree vibe parties this summer – the Sundown Sessions.
“On Friday 7th July and Saturday 8th July, we will be opening the doors to our popular and unique area of the site at Sticelett Farm – the woods – to welcome a range of incredible acts that will give you the Rhythmtree party you have all been waiting for. These one-of-a-kind shows will be for the adults; a chance to let your hair down and dance the night away in a place that feels friendly, familiar and most importantly… fun! There will not be camping on this occasion, so we encourage you to treat this as a night out with a Rhythmtree twist that you can share with your friends and loved ones.
“Friday is a collaboration with our friends and regulars Continental Drifts and will feature acts such as Bomo Swing – a high energy, multi-cultural 8-piece band specialising in a melting pot of world music styles. Balkan party band Shunta, London-based high energy 7-piece New Orleans style horn ensemble Babel Brass and, of course, our friend and UK festival favourite Chris Tofu. Isle of Wight act Fellowship of Groove will be in place to get the celebration started.
“The Sundown Sessions continue again on Saturday with local acts Romy Helen and The Bohemians easing you into the afternoon. Multi-instrumentalist Pete Josef will then treat us to a blend of jazz, electro and soul tunes with his trio before The Undercover Hippy brings the infectious reggae rhythms and high energy to get the evening underway. Ska-fuelled Chainska Brassika will get the woods bouncing with their contagious horn-driven ska anthems that will have been heard nationwide. The night will be concluded with The Allergies, who have made it their mission to reshape funky vintage sounds for the modern dancefloor – what a way to finish!
“Limited tickets for these events are £30 each (per day) and are available through our website www.rhythmtree.co.uk.
