A burst water main in Newport has left some residents without water this afternoon (Friday).

Southern Water is aware of a burst main on Furrlongs and they are currently investigating the cause.

Once the burst has been located, repair works to the main will start as soon as possible.

The burst was reported to Southern Water shortly before 13:00.

A spokesperson from Southern Water has said:

We are aware of a burst in PO30 2AF – FURRLONGS, NEWPORT.

Our team is on the way to investigate and make the necessary repairs.

Sometimes repairs take longer than we’d like, as we need to complete numerous checks and tests.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we thank you for your patience.

UPDATE @ 14:20 – A team are on site repairing the burst at present.

Southern Water is saying supplies should return to normal within three hours although you may notice some discolouration or low pressure at first; this is completely normal when there’s been a disruption to the supply and is only temporary.

UPDATE @ 16:50 – The burst water main has now been repaired, and customers should now have their water supplies restored.
