Red Funnel will be running a revised timetable on Monday to allow time to pause and pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on the day of her state funeral.
A total of 12 sailings have been cancelled across both the vehicle ferry service and Red Jet service.
The Red Jet service will operate a normal Bank Holiday timetable, however, the following sailings will not operate:
- From Southampton: 10:20 and 11:30
- From West Cowes: 10:55 and 12:05
To support Island residents travelling to London on 19th September, an additional early morning sailing has been added to the Bank Holiday Red Jet timetable:
- From Southampton: 05:30
- From West Cowes: 06:05
The vehicle ferry service will run according to the published timetable with the exception of the following sailings, which will not operate:
- From Southampton: 10:00, 11:00 and 12:00
- From East Cowes: 10:30, 11:30 and 12:30
The Red Kestrel freight service will run as normal, with the exception of the following sailings which will not operate:
- From Southampton: 10:25
- From East Cowes: 11:55
Any customers with bookings on affected sailings will be contacted.
Fran Collins, CEO of Red Funnel, said:
“We have made the decision to revise our service on Monday the 19th of September as a show of respect for Her Majesty The Queen’s 70 years of service to our country. We think it is important to pay tribute to her great contribution and we want to enable our staff to be able to participate and reflect on this day of mourning.
“This is a historic event that will see many across the world united, and it is only right for us to pause and partake in memory of such an inspirational figure in our lives. We apologise to anyone who may be inconvenienced by this decision, but we hope our customers will understand the context and support us too.”

In other words we’ve seen an opportunity to cancel sailing and save a few quid. Disgrace. End of.
official statement…We have made the decision to revise our service on Monday the 19th of September as a show of respect for Her Majesty The Queen’s 70 years of service to our country.
likely reality – .We have made the decision to revise our service on Monday the 19th of September as we don’t want to run empty boats, as most won’t be going to work and our staff either won’t work the normal hours on a bank holiday and want extra pay if they do, which we dont want to pay them.
So they respect the death of one woman that the lives of thousands of islanders and visitors? And what about the islanders who wish to go to the mainland to show their respects??? Ridiculous.
There are reports of cancer patients having the operations cancelled and having to wait up to a month for the next chance to save their lives.
Any excuse to cancel sailings. About time they built a bridge.
About time you moved.
When will you get it through your thick skull, this will never happen.
No need to get nasty, it’s still a valid debate.
Clear off to the mainland!
bull.hit, all about money, disgrace of a company
Disgusting, another form of Lockdown
What about persons who want to visit families on the mainland in Hospitals etc

Nothing to do with saving fuel then? How disgusting to use Her Maj to save a few bucks.
