The Royal Air Force’s Red Arrows aerobatic display team is set to wow the crowds at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival.
According to the official Red Arrows website, the iconic team has been booked to conduct a display on Thursday (16th September) – the first day of the 4-day event.
It’s unclear when exactly the engines will roar overhead, with further information expected later in the week. Initial suggestions say festival-goers can expect to see red, white and blue from 17:00 until around 17:25.
Crowds of 50,000 are expected at this weekend’s event, which is taking place much later than the usual June spot due to COVID-19.
It’s been several years since the Red Arrows last performed in the skies above Newport.

Lets hope the engines will be accompanied by airframes.
are they going to change to electric engines anytime soon ? hardly a prestigious event, a fester ival , hellish noise sold as music.
HaHa! no, they cant even make a battery car which isnt rubbish, imagine your battery plane running out of sparks after a bit of headwind at 30,000 feet…..
Maybe a little anti virus should be added to those smoke trails like crop spraying.
Maybe that’s why they’ve been hired….. 😉
Carpet bomb Seaclose Park and use the craters and a BMX obstacle course for all the locals, they’d love it. Miles better than a crappy has beens Festival.
At least the Red Arrows will be socially distanced …..
