Freshwater Fire Station was called to an incident in Totland earlier this afternoon (Saturday) following reports of a teenager injuring his arm and needing medical attention.
The joint Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and Isle of Wight Ambulance Service Co-Responder was called to the aid of 15-year-old Ollie who sustained an injury whilst in the sea.
The 15-year-old had his wound cleaned and dressed at the scene, before being taken to hospital for further care.
They have praised the quick thinking friends who applied pressure to the wound to stop the bleeding and kept Ollie warm by wrapping him in towels prior to the arrival of the emergency services.
