PYROTECHNICS REMINDER AS COASTGUARD RECOVER FLARES FROM BEACH


Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to reports of a flare washed up on the shore at Ventnor this morning (Friday).

The discovery was made to the west of Ventnor Esplanade by a member of the public, who did the right thing and alerted HM Coastguard, shortly before 09:00.

Coastguard Rescue Officers (CROs) located 3 time-expired pyrotechnics on the beach. All 3 were made safe and recovered.

Islanders are now being reminded to dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard if flares or other ordnance is discovered on the beach or around the coast of the Isle of Wight.
