Residents of Sandown have been invited to a face-to-face meeting with Two Saints, the charity behind the controversial House of Multiple Occupancy (HMO) currently being created on Avenue Road.
As first reported by Island Echo at the start of October, residents of the seaside town unearthed plans that a block of flats was being renovated internally and was to be turned into an HMO with as many as 10 rooms.
At the time of the news breaking, many locals expressed their anger at the plans wondering why work was being undertaken without their consultation. 1 disgruntled resident said:
“It’s just overkill, they are absolutely killing Sandown. We’ve already had some issues with the facilities on Fort Street and Yarborough House.”
It has now been confirmed by local Councillor Debbie Andre that she will be holding a public meeting with the homeless service charity at the Broadway Centre on Saturday 5th November at 11:00.
At this meeting, locals will be able to ask who exactly will be housed on the premises and what exactly Two Saints will be doing to work with the community to eradicate any issues.
Members of the local community are encouraged to attend the meeting should they wish to do so.

click the above link you will be taken to two saints accounts – 2021
page 23 note 2 – total revenue from lettings which includes capital grants/rental charges/services charges etc was over £14 million
page 29 – this so called charity paid out over £8 million in salaries and wages, with one of the directors taking between £80,000 and £90,000 a year and two others taking between £60,000 and £80,000 a year each.
two saints has a subsidiary called “society of st dismas limited” whose sole function is to raise money and two saints are the only beneficiary – as detailed on page 31
they are making money off the homeless, hand over fist
Deny this HMO in sandown
further to my above message – you will note the increase in money rolling in for two saints in their 2022 accounts…
https://www.twosaints.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Financial-statements-for-the-year-ended-31-March-2022-signed-1.pdf
total revenue moved up to over £15 million from over £14 million in 2021
they took out a bank loan in 2022 for £3 million – interest at 3.68% – the bank are now making money off this homeless gravy train.
salaries and wages moved up to just under £9 million, with four directors taking between £60,000 and £90,000, whereas in 2021 it was three.
true what is said now – there is far more money to be made by the homeless charities -the more that are homeless the more they make.
NO HMO IOW
They aren’t “making money off the homeless”. Stop making things up.
They provide accommodation for the homeless, often paying rent to private landlords on the behalf of their clients.
Like all charities they require managing and financing and need talented people to run them. The salaries paid by Two Saints are pretty average. Here are some other charity CEO salaries you may be interested in:
Age Concern England : £94,000
British Heart Foundation : £115,000
Donkey Sanctuary : £94,427
Guide dogs for the blind : £90,000
Royal British Legion : £95,000
British Red Cross : £ £125,000
Whether there should be a homeless shelter in this location is a moot point, but making stuff like this up just negates any other points you make.
stop justifying the rinsing of the taxpayer by this charity – they leech off the taxpayer, paying theirselves salaries and then use taxpayer money to house a load of deadbeats and spongers.
the very definition of charity is to do something without reward – in other words no pay – I do not ever donate to any of these so called charities that simply hand the donation to staff in the form of a salary
charity nowadays is just another business that rinses people for their hard earned.
yes they are making money off the homeless – if there weren’t any homeless, these organisations wouldn’t exist and they wouldn’t therefore be paying theirselves money off the grants/donations. so, by the homeless existing two saints make a living
Honestly your reasoning gets more absurd by the day.
You think that Macmillan nurses should do the job for free?
Or the nurses working for the Mountbatten Hospice?
Charites have to pay the going rate for skilled staff or they won’t get the staff.
Stop making stuff up to suit your ridiculous alt-right world view.
To be fair there worthy charities! Helping people that won’t help there selfs isn’t worthy! They just bring misery to an area! look at fort st, look at there property near Wilton’s that they set fire too!
the reason why charities rake in so much and pay staff so much – is because of gullible fools like you who believe the polished image they put out.
but hey, why let the facts get in the way of your unicorn, lefty, utopian narrative eh worky.
Two Saints quite recklessly UNCONDITIONALLY only house people with complex needs- mental health, alcohol/drug abuse, or offending behaviour. The only support they appear to give is how to fill in a universal credit form, not help or encourage their residents to address the issues that would assist them in changing future prospects or prevent them from becoming involved in anti-social behaviour. The behaviour of a sober person irrespective of any prior homeless status is VERY different to someone abusing alcohol/drugs. Two Saints have enough money to build properties and provide the correct support for their residents in suitable locations where their residents don’t have access to likeminded people nearby in similar properties.
I’m sure they’ll play lipservice to locals at this meeting and make promises they’ll never keep.
Two Saints don’t give two shits! When Real world trust ran the accommodation in Sandown it was a dry house, and the residents were supported with AA meetings etc. Two saints mix criminals, and drug and alcohol abusers in the same accommodation with vulnerable adults and those trying to abstain, its a recipe for disaster!
3 knife attacks (armed robbery) in the past 2 years with connections to these establishments is out of order.I know they have to be housed but why is Sandown being pounced upon for these establishments. They may stop when someone actually gets fatally wounded its time for residents to stand up.They say that two saints will work in the community to help resolve any issuse. How is that going to work they wont do anything to police these units i guarentee that as that costs money and yet the poor residents and business owners are going to be the ones at risk.
i shall be there
