A man who has pleaded guilty to 4 offences including possession of a bladed article and assault of an emergency worker will be sentenced at the Isle of Wight Crown Court later this week.
Tobias Green, 34, currently of HMP Isle of Wight, pleaded guilty to 1x possession of a bladed article, 1x criminal damage, 1x assault by beating and 1x common assault when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates on Tuesday (1st November).
The court heard that on the morning of 17th May, Green was walking along Cowes High Street when he entered Live Like This in the town. Highly inebriated, Green proceeded to ask the person behind the till ‘can I have all the money’ – whilst holding a fishing knife in his hand. He was told no by the shopkeeper before he was told to leave. Upon leaving he told the shopkeeper to ‘f**k off’.
Green then headed to Cowes Combined Services and Social Club asking for a drink at the bar but he was told he wasn’t going to be served. Once the woman behind the bar had noticed the knife in his hand, she left the bar and ran upstairs hiding behind a locked door. Green left and returned to The Anchor Pub.
The 2nd incident occurred on 21st May when ambulance crews attended Green’s address at Windmill Close, Cowes at around 12:00 after receiving reports that Green had tried to hang himself.
Whilst in the ambulance, Green tried to strangle himself and was foaming at the mouth whilst en-route to St Mary’s Hospital.
As a result of this, Green began spitting with saliva heading towards the direction of the paramedics tending to him. The 35-year-old then mimicked smacking the back side of 1 of the paramedics.
Green is to be sentenced at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on Friday (4th November), where he is already facing sentencing for another criminal matter.
