The red carpet was rolled out for Priory School’s Year 11 leavers as they celebrated the end of their secondary education with the school’s annual prom on Thursday (25th June).
Staff, pupils and parents lined the red carpet at the school in East Cowes, creating a lively send-off as the Class of 2026 made their way through the school dressed in their prom attire.
Family, friends and members of staff greeted the leavers with an array of musical instruments, creating what the school described as a deafening atmosphere before the students gathered at the school gates for photographs.
The celebrations continued with an emotional farewell as the students boarded the vintage open-top bus, ‘Old Gal’, which took the scenic route across the Downs to the Lakeside Hotel in Wootton.
On arrival, the leavers were welcomed by Principal Mr Lloyd, alongside pastoral and academic staff, before enjoying a meal together in the hotel’s surroundings.
The evening concluded with speeches from Head Boy Sam Hayles and Head Girl Constance Stockley, while leaver Galt Brouwer also delivered an impromptu speech reflecting on friendship and camaraderie.
Principal, Mr Lloyd, said:
“The boys and girls in the Class of 2026 have worked incredibly hard for their GCSEs and other examinations. We wish them every success in the next stage of their education and careers.
“We will miss them all and they are very deserving of a super summer break.”
