Over 126 postcode areas on the outskirts of Ryde have been hit by a power cut this morning (Monday).
Homes and businesses in the Binstead and Haylands areas lost supply at just gone 11:20. Other areas of the Island experienced 3 occurrences of lights dimming.
The vast majority of properties came back online within 3 or 4 minutes but there are still customers without electricity this morning.
17 postcode areas in Binstead are now thought to be in the dark as engineers from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks work to resolve the issue. It is hoped that the power will be restored by 14:30.
The affected postcodes include: PO33 3RJ, PO33 3RU, PO33 3RX, PO33 3RY, PO33 3RZ, PO33 3SA, PO33 3SB, PO33 3SD, PO33 3SE, PO33 3SF, PO33 3SJ, PO33 3TD, PO33 3TE, PO33 3TF, PO33 3UX, PO33 4ED and PO33 4EH.
SSEN say engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can.
UPDATE @ 12:10 – Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks have confirmed that a total of 1,799 properties were hit by the outage.
Thanks to an automated system, the number of customers without electricity now sits at 251.
No reports of damage to the network have been received at this time. SSEN say the priority is restoring power as quickly and as safely as possible before identifying the fault.
Power is expected to be restored by 14:30.
