A shortage of butchers and changes in the market have led to the closure of the Isle of Wight Meat Co.’s butchers shop at Cheverton Farm.
The popular farm shop, located at Cheverton Farm off Cheverton Shute in Shorwell, closed its doors for the final time on Friday 31st October.
Known for its salt-aged beef, lamb & pork, Isle of Wight Meat Co adopted a farm-to-fridge approach.
It is claimed that many factors; including a shortage of butchers and changes in the market have made it impossible to deliver the service in a ‘viable way’.
Taking to their website and social media pages, a spokesperson has said:
“It’s been an incredible journey, and we want to say a huge thank you to all of our loyal customers and friends who have supported us over the years.
“This isn’t goodbye forever. We’re taking some time to reassess our business offering, confident that we’ll return to supplying our products in the future—staying true to what we believe in.
“Thank you again for being part of our story, your support has meant the world to us. We’ll keep you updated here on any future plans.”
Despite the news, the shop will be open on Saturday’s between 09:00 – 14:00 whilst stocks last.

all the meat and there will be none left for them.
Maybe that is why Billy G has been buying up all the
farms in the U.S
