2 men have been arrested by Police on suspicion of drugs offences at Red Funnel’s ferry terminal in East Cowes this afternoon (Saturday).
Police swooped on the busy terminal at around 15:00, boarding the ferry and subsequently cuffing 2 individuals.
A 21-year-old and a 22-year-old, both from the Isle of Wight, have been arrested on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply.
They remain in custody at Newport Police Station at this time.
The ferry was delayed in dock as a result of the interception, which has led to a 25+ minute delay on the 16:00 from Southampton and the 17:30 from East Cowes.
Police have also been seen searching a vehicle at the Southampton terminal – although it is unknown if the 2 incidents are connected.
UPDATE SUNDAY – 6 men in their 20s have now been arrested on suspicion of possessing Class B drugs with intent to supply.
The individuals include:
– 22 year old from East Cowes
– 21 year old from Newport
– 22 year old from Gurnard
– 21 year old from Cowes
– 21 year old from Carisbrooke
– 21 year old from Yarmouth
They have all been released while investigations continue.

Great news. It’s time more dealers were caught. They are destroying our children and grand children’s lives. Hope they get a custodial sentence and lose their profits. Well done the Police . If you spot any dealers tell the Police. They are corrupting the next generation. No one gains in the end.
Doubt it
what if there not drug dealers?? the papers are so quick to jump to conclusions, I know the lads and they had 5 grams of personal weed for a trip away. pathetic fake article which has blown a situation out of proportion because the police cant tell the difference between personal use and dealing.
trouble is dean – you get on a ferry and the enclosed passenger cabins ensure that the stench of weed is smelt by all. If you have been smoking it before hand, then it will reek on your clothes.
The other passengers, with their children who see users of cannabis as nothing more than scummy, low life, deadbeat, junkie losers that they do not want on the same planet as their children, let alone the same ferry, will not hesitate to inform the ferry staff or crew of their anger about the scumbags on the boat. The ferry staff will contact the police and then wait.
Whilst the police might not rush to someones flat, if they get a report of dealing or consuming, they will turn up at the ferry ports really quickly, as it is a public passenger service, with CCTV and they need to be seen to be doing something.
Lesson here is….do not get on the ferries carrying weed or being dressed in such a way or acting in such a way, that you might as well have a neon sign above your head that says “drugs”
Don’t do drugs ….. end of problem
Good!!!! Less drug dealing scum on the streets.
We were on this ferry, unless you saw wot was going on than you did not know it was an arrest. We saw the police searching the boat incase the gentlemen left stuff on board it was very low key apart from the delay of the ferry it was well delt with.
The majority of weed comes from [removed] every one nose that & nothing gets done about it he’s now got a unit in Cowes industrial estate where it’s all dispatched police now it & so does the public why doesn’t he get pulled because his family are freemasons you work it out
